Memories of the 1960s

This morning Russ and I walked down to the Emerald Bay Circle Condo Clubhouse to enjoy our first Saturday morning coffee.  It was great!  Russ met some of the men who live here and is psyched for the coming week:  He got invited to Men's Bocci Ball and brunch on Monday and to $10 poker night on Tuesday!

The thrill for me was seeing one of the other residents here - - my neighbor who was like my second mother on Sunset Drive during the late 1950s and 1960s!  She lives in Sturbridge, MA, but owns a unit here where she spends each January and February.  Monday morning while Russ is playing with the men, I will be spending time with her at her condo!!! What a thrill it was to hug her and chat with her today...definitely one of the highlights of January, for sure (and there have been a LOT of highlights!).

This afternoon I spent time online comparing housing communities until my head began spinning in confusion...so, I took a long nap!  (Love retirement!)  I woke up just in time to go down to the beach to watch the sunset.  It wasn't a pretty one, but at least I actually saw the sun this time!  The best part was watching the little sandpipers on the beach and watching the pelicans dive into the water.  From the following pictures, you will note that I was not able to get an award-winning photo of a dive-bombing pelican.  Thankfully, there will be plenty more opportunities in the coming weeks!

Tomorrow's plan is to return to one of the communities we liked and check out another one in the Venice - North Port area about an hour north of us.  Now, to watch the Patriots' game on television...Go Pats!!!
