House Hunting Begins!

Sorry for not posting the past three days.  (Yes, Paul, I liked your email reminder!)  We have been both busy and lazy.  Here, in a nutshell, is what we have been up to...

Monday:  We found the nearest CVS to get our monthly meds.  Since this CVS was on the northbound side of the Taniami Trail (and in the town north of us - Bonita Springs), we decided to see what was north of us.  Russ was happy to discover a Carraba's (restaurant) and I was excited to find a First Watch (another restaurant).  We passed a sign stating that Fort Myers was 25 miles ahead...so...I convinced Russ that we should check out Pelican Preserve, the only 55+ community in Fort Myers.  Off we went...and was VERY tempted to buy a house whose price was just lowered.  However, we really want to check other communities first.  Plus, the golf membership was ridiculously high.  (However, the community's Town Center was terrific. They even had a sewing room filled with sewing machines, cutting boards, and ironing stations!)  Then, we returned to Naples by going to Fort Myers Beach and traveling on all the connected islands back to our condo.  We were overwhelmed and pooped by the time we got home.

Love this!

Tuesday:  LAZY day.  I ventured out to Joann Fabrics to use my discount coupon on things I really need down here (yes, more fabric!).  The rest of the day I read a book and did lots of online quilt research.  Russ hung out at the condo nursing a headache.  We needed this day off to recover from Monday's adventure!

Today:  We traveled 42 minutes to the only 55+ community in the Naples area.  It is a new (about 3 years old) Del Webb Community. in a new town (Ave Marie).  Once again, we wanted to buy a house...however, it is not in our price range unless we get rid of a LOT of the extra options we wanted.  The HOA and golf fees were extremely reasonable and within our budget!!!  The town is just east of Naples, but far away from a major hospital and from an airport.  On the other hand, there are two medical clinics there plus a Publix.  I left my camera in the car, so no photos of the place.  We are definitely returning there with Paul and Hannah when they come!!!  We are in love with one of the house models.

  2. Are you still looking for houses? I know it’s hard to find a house that might suit your needs and desires, but you can always consider renovating and/or redecorating. How’s your house hunting? Hope you’ve got a spacious house who’ll allow lots of ideas for remodeling. Any updates? :)
