Russ and I have been just hanging out. However, we did have an adventure a few days ago inside Wal*Mart during a micro-burst type of wind during a rainstorm. We were in the back of the store when the power went out. I do not recall black ever being THAT black! Then the emergency lights (very low in power...quite eerie!) kicked on....and before we knew it all the lights came back on. However, about twenty-five minutes later we approached the checkout registers and found long lines at all the registers. All of the computers were still out; therefore, no one could check out. It was a good 40-45 minutes after the lights returned that the computerized checkouts finally were back online. On our way home, the roads were filled with fallen leaves and small branches. A few days later we saw the effects on the beach at Delnor-Wiggins Pass State Park:
The waves eroded the banks near the fourth parking lot. |
Seaweed and shells were thrown up against the banks. |
Another change at the beach since Paul and Hannah left was a new roped-off nesting area found near the pass:
Fake wooden birds were placed inside the roped zone. |
Today we again spent late afternoon at the beach. We noticed several groups of college students down here this week for spring break. We talked with two guys from a college in North Carolina. They were admiring a sandcastle made earlier in the day. One of them took our picture.

Tonight was not good for sunset watching. However, the clouds and sun were awesome!
